Good evening. This is Momo.

I think this is the saddest thing about any disease or personality, "not being understood correctly by others".

In the case of bipolar disorder and depression, people tend to take depression lightly, saying "I can manage if I try hard," perhaps because they use the words "I feel depressed" or "I feel sick. These symptoms of depression are not a problem of ordinary people's "I can handle it" mindset, but are a genuine illness that involves various parts of the body, such as the brain and adrenal glands.

However, as shown in the data from the Japan Depression Society, there is currently a lack of accurate information on this disease. This is one of the reasons why explanations are often given in a sensory way, which hinders understanding.

"Research on Bipolar Disorder
There are still many prejudices and misconceptions about mental illness in general, not just bipolar disorder. Why is it that people still do not understand bipolar disorder well? Above all, there is a lack of accurate information about this illness. "

So, how can we make them understand and accept us?

Momo thinks that the first and most important thing is to tell the people close to you in your own words.

But... I think there are a lot of things that people don't accept. I have failed to tell the people I have dated in the past, and my parents don't understand me very well either. The only people who understand me properly are my doctor and the people who used to take care of me at the day care. I haven't even told my friends because I don't need to.

It may be difficult for them to accept my personality.

But WEAK POINT That's why I want my loved ones to talk to me about it! I think it is normal to think that.

Don't keep it to yourself.

That's what I want to tell everyone and myself.
